I was a patient of Dr. Levin’s for probably 4 to 5 years. Each time I waited at least an hour in his office before being seen. I drive almost an hour to see this man. He made me wait over two hours to be rude and tell me that he couldn’t help me. There’s nothing you can do for Me because I had to stop taking a medication he had prescribed because I had become ill and had some injuries. I had called his office and asked them specifically if I should continue to do the injections while this was going on with me and the nurses called me back and told me to stop the medication. He told me I should not listen to his nurses and that I should’ve came in and saw him. This obviously does not give me confidence in him or his staff if he is telling me not to listen to his nurses. I know that nurses would not tell someone to stop their medication without consulting the doctor. I do not believe the nurses had anything to do with this. They have always been wonderful. He is rude and disrespectful and I guess when my eyes were shooting blood, I was supposed to drive an hour to get to his office to sit in The waiting room for two hours for him to tell me not to take my medication and then drive another hour back to my house with my eyes bleeding. Let a little of my sarcasm come out now. Sounds like wonderful advice to me. How about you?
I would not recommend going to this doctor. He comes off nice when he’s trying to get you on his medication, but if for some reason, your body doesn’t allow you to take it, he wants to get rid of you. I have psoriatic arthritis that has continued to progress and I am in a severe amount of pain. It is not my fault. I was told not to take this medication if I was sick or injured because it weaken my immune system. I am currently doing well, but you tell me you can’t help me? I am finding a new rheumatologist.

I don't know how he is as a Doctor, never got that far, but his staff is a 1 out of 5. I am not sure why they are not trained better or do better because they are dealing with sick people at the end of the day. I walked in to get an appointment after calling for a week and they looked at me like I was a ghost or had done something criminal, not even moving to do their job. Awful.

Find another location for “Bay Area Rheumatology”. Incredibly rude and incompetent.

Front office attempted to make me pay for another patient’s bill. When I brought it to their attention they handed me a paper and said “this is how they billed it.” So, I took it back to my chair and realized it wasn’t even my insurance company on the bill. It was a complete different person. When I challenged them again on it, they said “well, I thought you looked pretty great for 64” (25 years older than I am). I said “this isn’t even the right insurance company on this paper.” And one of the front office people got loud and began to talk to me like I was her child and just unbelievably condescending. I said “it’s not correct.” And then the found that they entered the wrong birthdate. I even check in on their tablet for this other person and told them that there were all kinds of allergies on the tablet I didn’t have. They waved their hand and said “it’s fine”.

The nurse/assistant measured my height improperly with a new laser scale they have. When I challenged them on it, they argued and said “Well, I guess I can take you to the other old scale, but it’s not going to read differently.” I said “yes, please.” And that scale read my proper height, 3” taller than the new scale. She said she would update my chart.

After seeing my doc in a room, had to get labs done and was talking with my doctor along the way and told her that the scale needed to be calibrated as it didn’t measure my height correctly. She said while looking at my chart “oh? How tall are you?” I told her and she said that she would update it. I advised that her assistant told me that she was going to update it. My doc said the assistant didn’t and she would take care of it as it is important since medication dosages are by BMI.

Upon leaving, the same front office staff member that was condescending earlier was incredibly rude to me again. My doctor had given me a note that I had in my stack of papers. As I approached the desk she said with all kinds of attitude while sticking out her hand “Chart.” So, I handed it to her and said “there’s a note there from my doct…” and she interrupted me saying, with all kinds of attitude again “I’m putting a paper clip on it.” Don’t know her name, she wasn’t wearing a name tag, but, she’s terrible to talk to or deal with. She should not be working with the public by any means.

I’ll never go back to this office based on the incompetence of the front office staff and their terrible demeanor. Find somewhere else to go.

My doctor transfered over to this practice and I think this is going to be a mistake.
Called to correct a prescription and was told pick it up at pharmacy even though I asked for first it to be sent to mail order.
When I told her we need to correct this she said sorry we are really busy. That is so unprofessional and I asked to speak to the person I spoke to previously , I was told I'll let her know you called again.
Whom ever I spoke to on the phone Should not be doing anything related to patients. I've been to many doctors over the years and this experience is being the worst so far. Won't not recommend this office especially if that person continue to work there.

I first saw Dr Levin and found him to be very personal and professional, very busy doctor, but helped me be a part of lupus trials. I now go to Karen, who is very interested and invested in me. I've been seeing her for quite a number of years. She is very nice and really caring. The office staff are quite helpful, including the lab, and I normally see Sandy. My wait time is very short compared to my other doctors!

I have been with this practice for about 2 years. I have waited in the waiting room for over 90 minutes. They overbook and overlap visits. I know the deal with the way practices are. I've worked in them and know how the appointments are. They put people between the 10:30 & 10:45. The practice is busy and it's unfortunate to have waited to let staff know I arrived. The front desk was on the phone did not acknowledge my presence with a nod. As far as the doctor, I believe he is knowledgeable in his expertise. After saying that, he offered me a treatment option which I did not agree with. He wanted IV infusions and I preferred not. I do not think that he really did not hear me for what I was saying. I felt that a less aggressive approach was an option. I think it's a money making strategy. I was disappointed. Currently I am looking around for another practice. Again, the wait is always annoying.

The office is clean and making appointments was easy. However, the women at the front desk are incredibly unprofessional. They were loud, eating full meals at the front desk and completely ignoring (elderly) patients. This happened 2 of the 2 times I’ve been there. Additionally, my records do not reflect my issues. Many questions were answered by someone (no idea if it was the Dr or his staff). All of the neurological and general health and symptom questions were marked as negative while they are actually positive. As hard as rheumatologists are to get into, it’s unfortunate I’ll have to find another. Hopefully others are having better results with him.

Long-term client that was just turned away with no meds because I didn't have the money for the $50 office visit today. They knew I was between jobs and without insurance when I made the appointment, and apparently that $50 is more important than taking care of their patients. Now I will be without medicine until after May 1st, and they literally do not care.
